SUSPENSE/THRILLER:  "Dream Child" is the third book in the Dream series. The suspenseful thriller takes up with Sara Alderson’s life as she continues working toward her goal of being a doctor. Things are going well for the resident - she has her husband, an adorable daughter and now the family is expecting twins. Then the unthinkable happens and Sara’s daughter begins having dreams of events to come. The dreams are familiar and bring back memories of the past when Sara used to have similar dreams.

In a race against the clock, the author uses a series of flashes to advance changes that impact the family as they try to resolve little Lizzie’s dreams. The Aldersons are drawn into the same life and death circumstances from Sara’s past. Over the course of the year they discover a grim picture that involves politics, death and intrigue. The plot is shared with readers in snippets, Lizzie’s dreams and Sara’s thoughts as she pieces together a potential act that will devastate hundreds.

DiBenedetto cites the book as a standalone but it is recommended that readers have a knowledge of the prior two books to fully grasp the background information that is revealed about Sara and her husband, Brian. During the course of the story references are made about Sara’s life that detailed her own experience with precognitive dreams that resulted in saving the life of a child.  Overall, this is an interesting concept and those that love thrillers that build slowly and end with a crescendo will not be disappointed.
