MYSTERY:  Abby Jenkins does not want to attend a séance. Unfortunately, as a single mother, a new witch with a ghost boyfriend, and jobs as a private detective and night janitor at the local haunted teahouse, she has one too many secrets to hide, and when one’s friend blackmails you into attending her séance, you go, even if you’d rather be home. Which is why Abby is present when Kumar, the day man for a vampire in town, is murdered mid-séance. Tasked with finding the murderer by the man’s creepy boss, Abby must unravel the murky past all the séance attendees share, and hope that she can do it without attracting more trouble. With her ghostly boyfriend, Eric, and sexy witch advisor Dante in tow, Abby just has to deal with her snarky familiar and solve this mystery fast. 

The third book in the  Ghost & Abby mystery series, this latest addition picks up right after the previous book, with Abby drowning in complications. Featuring a cross between the cozy mystery and paranormal romance genres, this story combines the kooky cast of characters with vivid emotions. While the love triangle is a bit complicated with very flawed men, the heavy dose of smoldering steam will keep readers intrigued and the mystery, while not complicated and a bit predictable, does move the plot along. Overall, there is room for the next book to explore the romance further, even as the next mystery provides more complexity.
