Who knew a trip to the doctor could be so deadly? When Shandra Higheagle comes down with a cold she can’t seem to shake, she schedules an appointment with Dr. Porter and ends up smack dab in the middle of a murder mystery. Despite her illness, Shandra and her boyfriend Detective Ryan Greer investigate the elderly benefactor's fall and quickly uncover more than one secret. Shandra’s dreams suggest they are on the right path, but can they find the killer before the next strike, or will the truth come too late?

The eighth book in the “Shandra Higheagle Native American Mystery” series begins with a bang and continues from there! With family secrets, scrambles for inheritances, and more happening in one home, the mystery surrounding Mrs. Narvel’s death will keep the reader guessing until the last page. The light romance between Shandra and Ryan is sweet and building towards more at the end with a satisfying conclusion. While the plot itself is well done, there are some slow moments. The story lacks the tension or thrill of hard-core mysteries and most of the characters are rather straight-forward and predictable. This keeps the mystery centered more on understanding the circumstances rather than deep secrets. Still, this latest addition to the “Shandra Higheagle Mystery” series is a wonderful read for fans of quirky amateur detectives and cozy mysteries.
