Genre:
Historical

Claire Hastings has no intention of marrying. A lady of independent means with a career as a novelist, she is happy to remain single — until her brother dies. With no remaining family, a clause in her father's will is enacted, leaving her one month to marry or lose the estate. Claire’s scandalous best friend Izzy arranges for Claire to meet William Knightley, a minor baron, who offers his services to women for pay. Sparks of interest fly between them immediately, but can Claire trust William not to take advantage once they are married? More importantly, will they convince Society that they are a respectable couple fully in love? If they fail, not only will they lose Claire’s family home but also a chance at love.

An Edwardian romance with a twist on "Pygmalion", “My Fair Baron” is not quite the typical tale. Set among high society in England, Claire and Will stand out from historical roles, as neither is conventional. Their past dramas give them some complexity, and their relationship, though arranged, as a steady pace to it, building from sparks to steam with each page. However, the conflict is minor, and mostly consists of their romantic feelings. Still, those looking for a fun, fluffy historical romance should look this way, and with any luck Izzy will get a book of her own.
