Sorcha’s life hasn’t been easy. Her father died when she was a child, and now she is pregnant and considered an outcast by the villagers. Her only comfort comes from Samuel, a Scottish minister. This happiness wasn’t to last, and when everything went wrong, salvation came in form of Samuel’s brother, Grant. The minute Grant received his brother’s plea for help, he rushed to help him. Unfortunately, he didn’t manage to save the day. Now he is in the middle of Ireland, with a pregnant woman and on the run. But the most dangerous thing?  His feelings for the lovely Sorcha.

A vivid portrayal of the dangers of the lives of Protestants in the 16th century. It is difficult to enchant the time of such horrors against humanity, to make the reader see beauty in it, yet the author did a remarkable job. The adventures of the main characters are thrilling, but heartbreaking at the same time. Sorcha is a truly amazing heroine, and one worth of admiration. The weak point is the relationship.  Their love is simply not tangible enough. Also there were times when the characters made rash decisions that didn’t fit with their personality. Those discrepancies could spoil the enjoyment of reading the story.  Nevertheless, it makes for a thrilling read that echoes with the feeling of the turbulent times!
