Without a Net (The Santa Monica Trilogy #1)

Jill
Blake
Genre:
Contemporary

Eva is a recently widowed mom living in Santa Monica with her 8yr old son.  She is working hard to drum up graphic design work to support them after being widowed.  She was left with nothing but a court battle and legal issues with a business deal gone wrong.  Her best friend Nina has recommended her to her brother Max who has recently written a book and needs her help to launch his first work.

Max is known for his "love them and leave them" attitude. An emergency room physician with model looks is the exact type of man that Eva should stay away from. But when he calls and wants to hire her to create his book cover she needs the money and also does not want to disappoint her best friend. Can Max convince her he’s changed and work his way into her heart?

Ms. Blake has a wonderful steamy love story involving two thirty-somethings with real life issues and hurts to overcome. The characters are wonderfully introduced and portrayed in realistic fashion. The plot and tempo are done well, which makes this gem a quick read - maybe too quick for some. This is the first installment of a trilogy and readers will surely enjoy the others in the set as well, when Ms. Blake expands on the other characters that are introduced in “Without A Net”.
