Genre:
Contemporary

When Isadora Patras’ mother dies, her father abandons his children to the care of the staff at Folsom Mansion, and she is forced to pick up the pieces and play the role of a parent for her two younger siblings. After having spent years caring for them, she is left with few friends and a rather lonely existence. However, her father’s longtime friend and business associate, Sawyer Bishop, changes all of that with their clandestine meetings — even if he is twenty years her senior. Sawyer is magnetically drawn to Isadora, but she is the daughter of a man who could ruin him in the blink of an eye. How far can their relationship progress before their secret world comes crashing down?

Lydia Michaels is an artist and words are her palette! Isadora and Sawyer’s struggle to find happiness with one another while maintaining a necessary secrecy will leave the reader gasping for breath. Emotions are high and beautifully portrayed. With both characters battling their own desires and opposing interests in the relationship, one cannot help but get lost in their world. Though the reader feels for Isadora’s plight, it would have been liberating to see her find more courage and strength. While the story starts with an intriguing scene that leaves the reader longing for answers, the story does not fully conclude. It ends abruptly, which was disappointing. However, with a story so profoundly engaging, the reader will likely be desperate to see this series through.
