A Light in the Dark

After playing his last concert, Bailey Honeycutt knew there was more to life than being in a band. When he enrolled in college at the University of Oxford it was to find himself, fulfill a dream he had been putting on hold, and be someone other than simply a guitarist. Brie Freeman meets Bailey in the park, and their meeting goes badly. Brie forgets about it until she is the primary instructor for an Art History course. When Brie notices Bailey in her class, she can hardly believe her eyes. He doesn’t exactly fit a typical freshman. Still, Brie can’t ignore their mutual attraction, and neither can he. Will they be able to hide what they truly feel for each other? And will Bailey able to hide the biggest secret of all, that he is in the band Survival of the Fittest?

The story is beautifully told and makes you feel not just for the characters but for the places described.  Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of sex without the mention of it being safe. The hero’s past health problems may have caused infertility. Of course, the strong physical attraction, lust and love are easily felt. Bailey displays the sensitive compassionate handsome rock star hero, but he still manages to do some dumb things that are forgivable despite the hurt he causes everyone. Readers will be able to relate to Brie, the smart, sassy, strong heroine. She makes mistakes, but that’s what makes her real. The book feels like real life.
