Professionalism in Publishing

The last few months have brought a new level of entertainment to the publishing industry where people focus more on the scandals involving authors, reviewers, readers or publishing houses rather than the glue that holds us all together: books. Allow me to step on a proverbial soap box and preach professionalism. The internet has allowed authors and readers and various other industry professionals to interact on levels never before seen – which is AWESOME. I know first hand the thrill of interacting online and becoming friends with my favorite authors (the desire to name drop right now is huge and oh, the irony of doing so in a “professionalism” article!).  But that also means that a sh*tstorm of unprofessional behavior can haunt one for a VERY long time...
