Listening vs Reading: Is it Cheating?


Bibliophiles often claim to love the whole experience of reading a book: the pressed woodsy crisp smell of the pages, the feel of the cover, the weight of the book in their hand, the slight tinge of ink lingering in the air, artwork encasing the wondrous object being held, the bold words that draw one in, and the invitation to come into another world and escape one’s own. Since books were first printed in the mid 15th century, humans have been able to immerse themselves in worlds, both fiction and non-fiction, that they otherwise never would have experienced. But, just as with most cultural and sociological hobbies/trends and habits, the story of books has come full circle and not everyone agrees that the so called “newest form of reading” is actually reading.
