Life Behind The Words: Book Publishing and Depression

As an avid reader, I spent years devouring books, getting lost in distant lands and falling in love week after week with dashing heroes. Not once did I give a single thought to the person behind those stories. Beyond the name on the cover, the author never crossed my mind.
That changed in 2002 when I began my own writing journey.
For the first time in my life, I realized there was a very real person out there creating the worlds I spent time getting lost in. Those wonderful characters on the page were a part of someone, brought to life with words so memorable many of them I still remember years after I've read them. Realizing that someone took the time to care for those characters, to breathe them into life, changed the way I looked at books, and the authors behind the story....
